The Dutch hotel group, citizenM, continues to grow its footprint in the United States with the opening of a second hotel in the nation’s capital city.
Located in the desirable NoMa area of Washington, D.C., citizenM Washington DC NoMa will comprise 296 guestrooms across ten floors, all equipped with top-of-range amenities and entirely controlled via an iPad. The hotel will also include three societyM meeting rooms. Led by citizenM’s long-term partner Concrete, a design and communications agency, the ample living spaces are adorned with contemporary art.
The hotel’s façade is surrounded by an art installation named Circulations by local artist Hannah Whitaker, which draws inspiration from the ‘generative potential of human error in the face of digital automatisation’. A second piece by Whitaker, called Vibrations, continues the same theme indoors. Meanwhile, works by other local artists also adorn the walls of the guestrooms.
A press preview of the hotel is scheduled for 15 September 2022, followed by a public preview from 16 to 18 September 2022. A local chef will craft a special menu for the event, and an installation by artist Amber Pinkerton will be mounted on the front exterior of the building.
